Meme from Meagan

1. Leave me a comment saying "OBJECTION!"
2. I'll respond by asking you five questions so I can get to know you better.
3. Update your journal with the answers to the questions.
4. Include this explanation in the post and offer to ask other people questions.

1. What was your first pet?
I had a fluffy little white collie named Lucky. She was lucky because when she was a baby, before we got her, her and her brother were both sick, and her brother died and she lived, so we called her Lucky.

2. Who's your favorite rock star? And you can't say Drake Bell, because that's obvious and I already know that. :P
These days I'm really into The Killers. Listen to "Read My Mind" and "Human". You'll see. XD (Okay so that was a band, not one person, but...I don't have a singular person, so...)

3. What was your favorite subject in school?
Would it be cheating to say band and choir? Those WERE my favorite classes. But like, as far as academic classes, English and history.

4. What's the weirdest experience you've ever had?
I, er, um. I have a lot of weird experiences. Huh. I have a phobia of air vents (yes I'm serious) and the weirdest experience I've ever had I think was spending an entire week in France realizing they don't have air vents there. Three cheers for them!

5. When was the last time you felt inspired?
I felt inspired last week to make a dress for RenFest. It's nearly done, RenFest is over, but there will be other ones soon. Yay for nearly-finished-dresses!

I was also gonna talk about my icons for her but my LJ is not cooperating with pictures right now, so I'll just answer those over there.

A couple of memes, and I'm making a costume!

OH my gosh, I am SOOOO tired. See, yesterday, I worked from 10-2, then they gave me a room to sleep in and get ready, so I could leave at 8 for training. We didn't get out until like, 3 something, and it was an hour home. And then I had to be back here at 11 and stay til 6. So, um...I'm tired? Like, REALLY tired? And so even though I have been meaning to make like, an actual entry for weeks...it's not gonna be tonight.

However, if you wanna see some of my personal canon about my fandoms, do this meme for me:
Name a character and I'll tell you three (or more) facts about them from my own personal pseudo-canon. (You may also pick original characters)

And then if you want a sentence fic, do this one:
Give me a pairing and/or a prompt, and I will write you a one sentence ficlet

Tomorrow is my off day, but don't expect that real entry then, cause I'm cutting out the fabric to make my dress for RenFest. And apparently, I have decided that I can't just do it the simple way, I have to be complicated, because I'm making this dress: http://www.mccallpattern.com/item/M4491.htm
the view in the bottom right hand corner. The contrasting lower sleeves? well, they are lined, since obviously you can see the inside of them due to their FREAKING HUGE bell sleeve qualities (which is what I love about it). Well, silly ole me, given the choice of a fabric which is pretty enough for the inside that shows so much, decided "oh hai, I COULD just make the lower sleeves removable and reversible!"

So the main body will be a dark foresty green, the one side of the sleeve will be cream, and the other side mauve. And if I can figure out a solution, I will be able to take the lower sleeve off and reverse it so either color will be on the outside. Did I mention I have less than two weeks and only two off days before its time for RenFest? <strike>No? I am insane. Clearly</strike>.

And for those of you who are into the RenFest sort of thing <strike>(I'm guessing none of you, but whatever)</strike>, no, this isn't exactly "period". RenFest is usually 13th to 15th, and this is more 12th, but I just loved it, plus 13th-15th costumes are SO MUCH MORE involved, and again, I only have two weeks. Plus at least half the costumes you see there are "only sorta kinda period, but a thousand times better than street clothes" so I'm not too bothered.

Next year I've decided I need to buy the patterns for the chemise, the skirt and the bodice (three patterns at 16 each, and probably 30 yards of fabric, so this will be a "I'll buy it throughout Jan-May, then start construction which will take forever" kind of thing.)

Plus I need to make some sort of headcovering <strike>that hides the fact that no, in fact, I don't have near enough hair to look like a fair maiden, </strike>and a pouch to carry my crap in.

Creepy dreams invovling LJ friends, Oh my.
So today I was sleeping, and I'd taken some tylenol PM. Because I never get much sleep these days, except on days off when I can go to sleep when its still dark out. So tylenol PM makes my already ridiculous dreams way weirder. Most of my dream I can't remember, except knowing for sure that it was totally out there and mostly as dark as the one part I do remember, which incidentally, involves Amber (secret_plasures ).

So Amber calls me up and she's like, I wanna hang out, but first you need to come over. I don't want to tell you why, 'cause it will upset you, but you're being asked for. So I go over and I go in her room (which is gigantic) and it's just a bedroom but there's an open glass-topped coffin in there and an alive little girl, plus some of the little girls' family, a preacher, and another college aged girl, and of course, Amber. The other college aged girl doesn't ever get called anything so I'm thinking this is Amber's friend Jen. And the little girl, she looks like Bailey in The Sisterhood of The Traveling Pants. (and well, in the books/movie she dies, so I guess that sorta makes sense). But Amber's all like, "she wants to say goodbye". and so I guess they're doing funerals BEFORE death now? LOL, WTF? So the little girl says bye (and I guess I sort of know her, and Amber is calling her "Valetta", which, wtf?") and everyone starts crying, and the Amber closes the coffin, which is bizarre and creepy. And then we call cry some more.

yeah I never said it made sense. anyway, then I got online tonight and Amber had tweeted something that made her sound sort of emotional, and considering the wierd dream I'm all "OMG ARE YOU OKAY?", which she said she was but I'm still kinda worried.

And then she wanted to hear about my dream, so I thought I'd show you how wierd they get sometimes.

Amber's fine. Me, I'm not so sure. LOL.

Customer suck of 8/23.

So this guy comes in. "do y'all have a room with two beds left?"
"Yes sir, but only smoking."
"They have DVD players, right?"
"Um, not that I'm aware. As far as I know they don't".
"Each room has to have a tv and dvd right?"
"A tv, for sure. But I don't think we have DVD players."

well apparently that wasn't good enough. I'm not allowed to leave the front desk, so I can't check so he wants to see a room. I'm not allowed to do that. So he and his friend (I THOUGHT) were going to leave.

After they go outside and deliberate for ten minutes, they come back. "Do y'all have cable hookups for the dvd players?"
Seriously? I happen to know that we do because some of our regulars bring their Xboxes and Wiis.
"If I go to Wal-Mart [we have one just behind our property] and buy a DVD player can I hook it up?"
"Yes."

That dude and his friend REALLY want to watch a movie. But the sad part is, they could have gone home to watch it. they live twenty minutes from here.

The suck part was how offended he was that no, we don't have dvd players, and how it's like all he could think about. But seriously, for what you payed for the room plus the dvd player, you could have watched a hundred movies at home!

I know it doesn't sound like a big deal. It was the way he was treating me, as if I'm some sort of desk-monkey who should magically pull dvd players from my butts.

I BOUGHT A NEW CAR!
My old one was not safe and leaving me stranded and falling apart. So look!

That's: the steering wheel, cupholders/ac/radio/shift, front seat, back seat, trunk, front (sorry I couldn't figure out how to turn it right side up), back, and profile.

Also, I got tagged for this meme the other day, by both thebucketwomanand ayadec

First: If you've been tagged, you must write your answers in your own LJ and replace any question that you dislike with a new question.

Second: Tag eight people. Don't refuse to do that. Don't tag who tagged you.

Lots of pillows or just one?
Lots. One memory foam contour pillow under my head, and two fluffy pillows to hug/cover myself for extra warmth.

What kind of books do you read?
YA fiction, Chick Lit (what? I do!) and Science Fiction.

What's the cutest thing you've seen today?
I should have answered this yesterday. LOL. I had a cuter moment then. Today, though...umm. Is it cute that I was dreaming about Scott Paterson? (the guy who plays Johnny DiMarco on Degrassi). He's young! Kinda wierded me out, but at least he's legal. LOL.

What's your favorite song of all time?
I don't have "of all time" songs. They go in and out of favored status.

What's really creepy?
Lots of things. I am easily freaked out.

What's your current fandom/obsession/addiction?
FANDOM: Life With Derek achieves all time status but so does Degrassi, which is taunting me with the new episode!
OBSESSION: Singing In The Rain (and Gene Kelly and Donald O'Connor). I should really post a video-spam.
ADDICTION: guacamole!

What flavor ice cream would you choose right now?
Chocolate.

What websites do you always visit when you go online?
Hotmail, LJ, Facebook, and a couple of blogs. Plus I used TweetDeck.

What was the last thing you bought?
some cd's.

How do you think you'll die?
Old and reminiscing about midwifing and homeschooling in France, hopefully.

Do you get allergies?
ugh, yeah.

If so, what are you allergic to?
South Texas air. LOL. and some meds.

What do you do to change your mood?
read, listen to music

What is your sign?
Sagittarius, ironically, just like the two people who tagged me.

Do you want to learn another language?
Yes. French.

Five things you can't live without.
1. Food
2. Oxygen
3. Water
4. Shelter
5. Friends

Find the closest book currently sitting near you and flip to page 86. What is the second sentence of the third paragraph?
"All week long Mom, Dad, Nadine, Laney, and Liz grilled me on my knowledge of Great Britain, my family history, and why my parents moved to the States."

What's something you'd like to say to someone right now?
I love you, and I'm too gutless to tell you.

What are you looking forward to?
Arkansas!
I met Drake Bell. And Backhouse Mike. BEST DAY EVER!

Hey y'all! Apparently Drake rates higher on my "This is the most amazing thing, EVER" scale than Paris because here is a picspam from yesterday.

I'm starting with concert pics, and then going to Meet and Greet pics, even though that isn't chronological, because I want to torture you guys. LOL, or just save the best for last. But the best thing about my day BESIDES Drake? I WON a three day, two night vacation to either Orlando or Las Vegas. HOW crazy is THAT? I was just walking along, looking for a water fountain, and this lady stopped me, and was like "you want to try to win a vacation?" and I was all "sure why not". I never win anything, and I'd already won passes to the Meet and Greet, just two days prior, so I KNEW I was going to lose. So I was supposed to spin this wheel, like an upright version of like Wheel of Fortune type thing. So I gave it a spin, and started filling out the paper she wanted. (You know, phone number, address, that sort of thing). And I'm just filling it out, not even looking at the wheel, because I KNOW I'm going to lose. I just know. So I'm busy writing and I hear the wheel stop, but I keep writing, again, I KNOW its a loss. And the lady goes "look, you won!" and I look up, and there it is, right there on the win spot! I'm just like "No freaking way." So yeah, am trying to decide whether I go to Orlando or Vegas, and who I should take with me.

First, two pics of the opening act: Forever The Sickest Kids. They weren't bad. I actually started to like them by the end of their part of the show, quite a bit. I'll have to check them out.

LJ doesn't like me using pictures. It's giving me fits. But thats okay, I promised you Drake pics, and pics you shall get!

Concert pics! This was during the opening number, which was shockingly, "Up Periscope". I say shockingly because at this venue there were tiny children and their parents EVERYWHERE and if this song isn't about sex, well, I'm the queen of England.

Next was "I Know", which I about died hearing live. That whole guitar thing, I can't describe it, from the song? I LOVE it, and well, live? its like 1000 times better. And Drake's voice was A-MA-ZING. But I'm pretty sure you could have figured that one. XD

This picture is all about Backhouse Mike getting his guitar on. Drake just happens to be in the picture. BTW: Backhouse Mike? is BEAUTIFUL.

This guy on the left is the one from that video Drake posted the other day where he's just singing about anything? I'm almost positive.

This pic is also honestly all about Mike. He's beautiful. And he has that whole "surfer dude" thing going on, which has ALWAYS gotten to me, since I was like, prepubescent.

Look at Drake! He's like, jamming out, here. LOL. Seriously though. Also, I had been wondering why my pictures were so dark. This is when I discovered, that no, my flash wasn't on, after all. I said "Let there be flash!" and suddenly my pictures weren't dark anymore! *g*

Mike and that other guy go "wow, watch Drake play!" *g*

I have decided that my love for Mike is as great as my love for Drake. Which makes it so fortuitous that I got a picture with him before I even realized this. But, man can play. And sing. SO beautifully. And look at that surfer hair!

Drake is concentrating really hard right here. *g*

Um, this sax player? Well, he played an awesome sax. MOAR PLZ.

Really singing here. So much so that he put his guitar down!

They brought this girl out for the last four songs of the concert/ last four songs of the "It's Only Time" album. She played violin/fiddle, and she was amazing. Drake called her a "special guest", and Mike said she was "one of the most talented young people you will ever see". Which amused me, since while Mike is older than the others, he's not old by any stretch. Just 30. He was right, though, she was incredibly talented.

Here they are, all of them playing, during part of either "Fallen For You", "Rusted Silhouette", or "Break Me Down". My theory is that each of the tracks are just too long to be one long song, because you can't just stop after one, you know? You have to play all three together, without stopping. Anyway, its about 8 and a half minutes on the cd, for all three of them. But the in concert version of them is about twice that long. They have all these amazing musical interludes, and extra words. (There were extra words in "Makes Me Happy" too, that weren't from the Nick version OR the cd version).

"End It Good" is my favorite song in concert, just like on the cd. It lasted longer as well, which is good since its so short. They did two songs that I hadn't heard before, "Join the Fanclub" I think it was, which Mal told me is on the concert DVD which I NEED. The other, I think it's been leaked somewhere, on LJ, I guess, 'cause Mike said "this is completely new, I'm positive you have never heard it before", but...if they have played it ANYWHERE, even at one other show, I KNOW I have heard it. So yeah. LOL. But I can't remember what it was called, hee.

It was amazing. They did this acoustic version of "Found A Way", which had four people singing "ooh"s and was BEAUTIFUL, made me *not* so burnt out on that song, after all, lol. They actually did all the songs from "It's Only Time" except for "Fool The World", and nothing from "Telegraph" unless you count "Found A Way", which I don't, because this version was more like the "It's Only Time" version, except maybe even MORE acoustic-ey. It was a pretty short show, though, it only lasted about an hour, sadly. But it was like, the best hour ever!

But before this amazing concert, I got to MEET DRAKE. And Backhouse Mike! Now, soundcheck was right before the meet and greet, and it ran 45 minutes late, so they told us "no autographs, just pictures" and you didn't really get to spend a lot of time with him. But right away I asked if I could get a picture with Backhouse Mike too, because I didn't see him anywhere, and Drake goes "can you get Mike out here?" to some person. So we took the picture, and he looks down and sees my hat. Now, about my hat: it has a patch with the "Telegraph" album background on it. Well, here's a picture:

At that point, I was supposed to have walked over to wait for Mike, I think, so my friend could get a picture with him, but he sees my hat. I had it in my hand with the patch part up, but I was by no means trying to show it to him. I'd had it with me hoping for him to autograph the patch part, before they told us no autographs. He goes "Whoa! Where'd you get that?" and I said "um, from a website". "Really what site?" "umm, I don't remember, it was like three years ago". "wow, that's really awesome!" and he was clearly REALLY excited about it. It was like, probably the first non-official but not homemade merch he'd seen, I think. I was all thinking "OMG this is awesome and crazy!" cause he was being so adorable acting like it was the coolest hat ever, or something. I am no less afraid to talk to famous people, apparently, than I am regular people, even though they have to talk to strangers all the time, because I said as little as possible, just like with every other person I don't know, lol. I'm not shy, just afraid of freaking people out. I have a habit of saying wierd things? I had a list of questions, but with the whole "pictures only" thing I didn't have a lot of time to ask them, and so I managed to ask him "what's your favorite Beatles song?" He goes "Oh man, that is a really hard question! Like, it depends on what mood I'm in, you know?" Anyway, when Mike got out there, to take the picture, he goes "what's your name?" and I go "I'm Jen", and he goes "cool, I'm Michael". He seemed pretty excited that someone wanted a picture with him. I wish I'd asked HIM something, but when I saw him I realized Oh My he is beautiful and had no idea what to ask, hee!

So here I am with Michael! LOL.

And here I am with Drake:

And that was my awesome day at Six Flags.

Paris, Drake, and that good news I mentioned.

Man, it has been FOREVER! I took SOOO many pictures it took forever to find the motivation to post any. I really did go! Look: Eiffel towerIt is so beautiful. As is Notre Dame and a hundred other things. But I failed my "I won't blog again until Paris" goal, BECAUSE guess what?

I GET TO MEET DRAKE BELL FRIDAY!

See, he's doing a concert at Six Flags San Antonio, so my sister and I are driving the 3.5 hours there and back to see the show. But about an hour ago on Twitter, he had a contest: first three people to @reply him got two Meet and Greet passes. Well guess who @ replied him? ME! And I got passes! AND I"M MEETING DRAKE FREAKING BELL FRIDAY!

Expect more pictures up sporadically because I just don't have the attention span to put up all of them. Plus I decided not to show you all of them because a)most of them are of Paris housing, which all looks the same and is everywhere, b)there are 700 and some are really crappy or stupid and c)I'd rather give you Eiffel Tower spams and Notre Dame spams and spams of other cool places that we saw, like Chartres cathedral, Sacre Coeur basilica, the gardens of Claude Monet's house and the exterior of it, a couple of chateaux's, the palace at Versailles, the outside of the Moulin Rouge (we saw a show there, but they take your cameras), and the Louvre.

Oh, and Fandom in-joke spam. because Paris managed to have two or three fandomy moments, haha!

Oh and for those of you who I haven't told because you aren't on Twitter: I GOT A NEW JOB! Yeah, you know how I hated my old one and it made me hot and dehydrated and paid crap and never gave me many hours? Well I got a new one as the night auditor at a hotel: FULL TIME, a set schedule, and no getting up early! Pay is still crap, but OMG full time, so oh well, right? LOL. Plus I basically get paid to hang out on here and watch movies, because there is very little to do.

You guys! I'm leaving tonight!

Today I leave! I'm so excited!

Also, I totally forgot to tell you guys! My sister came home from Disney World Sunday night and brought me back a souvenir. Guess what it was? A hat. You know how I love hats. Guess what else it was? High School Musical 3. You know how much I love HSM. So yes, I have this really cute hat, its black, it has a HSM3 logo patch on it, and the brim and the band are trimmed with gold sparkles that are reminiscent of the lights from the original logo. SO COOL. My sister loves me. Or else she was just trying to bribe something really good for me to bring her from Paris. LOL.

Randomness about icons you probably don't care about. I was gonna use my Lizzie icon for this post at first, because:
Paris->French->French Canadian->Canada->Life With Derek->Lizzie. But then I thought, well, I should use my Ryan icon, because:
HSM hat->HSM->Ryan. But then I decided that since I got two new icons (SEE, I'm finally filling that space up! 8 icons out of 35 now! LOL), I must use one of them in my next post. And I thought "Gibby is cool, but this picture of notlegal!Freddie is criminally hot. So it must be used of course.

I will miss you guys, but I will be checking my email (if everything goes as planned), so leave me LJ messages. Plus I don't leave my house 'til 5, so you can still message me!

UNTIL PARIS!

I've been stressed and tired from work or working on a sewing project, or on, but too tired to post and with nothing substantial to say. So that's where I've (not) been. So anyway, when I finish my project I will post a picture! I HOPE to finish before I leave but I'm not sure if I will or not.

I'm debating whether or not to bring my laptop, though my teacher is bringing hers, so I'm not sure whether I will be posting anything while I'm there or not.

I would LOVE to have SOMETHING to say, since its been a while since I posted, but...I'm boring and I got nothing.
TALK TO ME! tell me stuffs!
Snagged from Meagan, Allie, and Cat.

Ask me a question about one of my fanfictions. It can be absolutely anything in any fic and I will tell you the honest-to-god answer. Don’t hold back. Ask about major upcoming plot points if you want to. Whatever you ask, I have to answer truthfully.

Any of you guys fans of The Best Years? I know Katie and Cat watch it, but anyone else?

...am I the only person shipping Noah/Sam? I've been shipping them since the first time they were on screen together. Although I could maybe also ship Noah with Kathryn with proper provocation.

Talk to me!

For someone who is "a most loved teen star", Zac Efron is certainly modest!

Day before yesterday Demi Lovato tweeted that she was going to be on the Ellen Degeneres show. So yesterday I had my break during the Ellen show so I put the tv on to see if she would be on there. And found out Zac Efron was going to be on it too! Well I waited through like 10 minutes of Ellen-monologue and commercials before Zac came onscreen and only got to see about 4 minutes of his segment and none of Demi's. I youtubed it to see the rest.

I think you guy's should watch the Zac segment. What stands out to me is how self-effacing he is, throughout all of it. He is near bashful at parts, and if there is one thing I love it's a self-effacing guy, so you know I loved this video. Keep it on for the duration, when they play the second round of "last word", he has a hilarious reaction scene.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DErJe_oc198

Hope you enjoy!

I dreamed about the JoBros...

So last night I dreamed that some people picked me up in a bus. From there I went to this huge house with about five other girls; it was apparently the Jonas Brother's house. But it was in this middle of nowhere grassy desert (think Rio Grande Valley if you've ever been there). We were in a contest, and we thought the objective of the contest was to see who would be a good fit in a job for the guys. We were supposed to be like...domestic help. Cooking, cleaning, that sort of thing. Or at least, that's what they told us. So there's these two rooms and we're supposed to leave our stuff on which ever bed we pick. Cause we're staying there for the contest. So I pick this bed with a red bedspread next to a frosted glass window. (Which I guess is totally unimportant, but it *felt* important that I picked this one. I have no idea why.) Anyway, so this woman comes to get us and tells us we're just going to hang out for a while 'cause the judges aren't here until the next day. So there's this really cool sixties-style brick fireplace, so I curl up in front of it on the couch with my laptop and work on this novel I'm writing. (In my dream. I'm not currently writing one in real life yet.)

Anyway, so I'm anxious about sleeping in the total dark, which I assume I'll have to do since I'm sharing a room with two other girls, and I'm all stressed, and then they both mention leaving the bathroom light on with the door cracked and I relax and we go to sleep. Then the next day we do all these challenges which go by in a blur, and sometimes the boys come by to check it out. And later we have a pool party and they are there hanging out. (In my dream I'm like a size 4...). And so Nick and I are talking and he decides I'm really funny. Well these challenges go by all week, most of which I don't remember anything of. And then all of a sudden we have a cooking challenge. And I make rigatoni pasta with pieces of sausage cooked in the tomato sauce and okra and salad with my homemade dressing. And then the whole Jonas family comes to eat it, hahaha. Well just before I start cooking the meal I had been writing on my novel and Nick came in to talk to me and wanted to read it. So I let him read chapter 1 and he really likes it. So when they all come to eat he's all, you should eat with us. So I do, but I feel really awkward about it. But then he's all telling them about my book and how it's all awesome or whatever, and I'm blushing, but then they ask me all these questions about it. And Kevin keeps laughing at the funny things in it. So then when everyone is done I go to clean up and no one will let me. "You made it, but we all ate it, so we'll clean it up". I tried to help but again, no one let me. And then Nick pulls me aside and says "I know this is supposed to be about a job, but we all like you and I think Kevin has a big crush on you." And I'm all "...uh...'kay...". So then he's all "I mean, he keeps talking about you and then he wrote a song which I think is about you". So I start blushing mega-hard and then he says "you should go hang out with him". I'm all embarrassed an go to the living room with the awesome fireplace and start writing some more. And Kevin comes in and we talk some and then I am listening to some praise and worship music and he starts playing this one song I like and like, everyone in the house comes in and starts singing it. Which was kind of wierd, but that's what I dreamed.

Anyway, so then everyone leaves out again and then he's all "oh we should go on a date". And I'm all "..." and he's all "aw, come on." And I'm all "...well...ok...", and then we talked some more and he kissed me.

And then I woke up. And thought "I wish that was real!" And then I thought of author_abz andseverus_falter, and knew I had to post it, cause they love Kevin Jonas as much as I do!

(BTW, Joe was in it too, of course, he just never said anything substantial.)

A request for my video-talented LWD Lizwin friends.

Would one of you Lizwin shippers on my friends list care to make a fanvid/ship (I dunno the actual term) video (like on youtube), with lots of season 3 and 4 Lizwin clips to Love Bug by the Jonas Brothers?

I just think it's a perfect song for them.

I can think of some really great scenes, so let me make it easy for you. Misadventures in Babysitting, Teddy's Back, It's Our Party, Freaked Out Friday, Truman's Last Chance, The Bet, and of course that line in Date With Derek when she thinks he asks her to the school dance. There's a good scene in one of the more recent episodes where they are arguing in the hallway because Ed tried to make Liz believe he got better grades on his report card, I can't remember the name of it. Also, any games closet scene.

I got an Easter dress today, and my mom decided to buy it for me. Now I need shoes, jewelry, and a hat. (I think it needs a big floppy hat, okay?) Shoes are at Cato, hopefully I can find one at the other Cato that fit a little better. The other stuff, I don't know, but I think I'm driving out to Pearland or Sugarland after work tomorrow to see what I can see.

Now if only I could stumble onto a nice 75% off swimwear sale at Dillards and I'd be set *grin*.

Various odds and ends
I did it. I Twitter now. Follow me if you want and I'll follow you back. Im https://twitter.com/VintageJen1984.
What finally pushed me over the edge was Dan wanting us to pick the iCarly kids outfits for the dance. I wanted to be part of it!

Things that irritate me. It is incredibly hard to find attractive swimsuits that fit and flatter and don't cost an arm and a leg. And I really need one for France. Also I have to buy an Easter dress. I found the perfect one that fits amazingly and I can't get it. See, Jacey had found that one yesterday when she was shopping for hers. And Mom told her she didn't think David would let her wear a strapless dress to church. So I can't get it because it wouldn't be fair to her, even though they can't actually tell me what to wear or anything. Even though its really cute and Jacey found a really cute dress. This dress is seriously awesome, too, guys. grr. It looks like something you might see in Hairspray. The last part of the problem is that I can't find another one.

What's up with you guys?

Surgery! (It's so not what you think).

I'm about to do some surgery on a pair of jeans. They fit great and look great but haven't been worn much because they are really coarse and thick fabric, so they leave blisters between my legs. (Probably TMI, but why else would I be doing what I'm doing to them?) I got some bandanas (not some bright red countryfied things, I just thought it would be cheaper and easier than fabric plus I was inspired by a skirt I had when I was a small child.). They are a medium-light pink with white pinstripes. I'm going to turn the jeans into a skirt and add a ruffle around the bottom made from the bandanas. I'm hoping to have enough bandanas left over to make a really cute top to make an "outfit". I'm taking before and after pics, so if you guys wanna see my craft escapade (and lets hope it is successful!), lemme know so I can post it here. I'll probably post it anyway but I hope you guys want to see it, because this is the first surgery I'm expecting to be good (yay, sewing machine!), and I am really excited to see if it works.

Salad dressing recipes!

We have three different variations, with an option that can be used in each one to change it up a little.

It is important to note that these should be prepared in a container with a screw-top lid, since anything with oil and vinegar needs to be well-shaken before you pour.

Option 1:
2 parts oil
1 part balsamic vinegar
chopped garlic, pepper, and seasoned salt
SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE, SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE, SHAKE YOUR DRESSING

Option 2:
1.5 parts oil
1 part red wine vinegar
chopped garlic, pepper, and seasoned salt
SHAKE SHAKE, SH-SHAKE SHAKE, SH-SHAKE IT

Option 3:
1 part oil
1 part white wine vinegar
chopped garlic, pepper, and seasoned salt
MOVE IT LIKE THIS, AND SHAKE IT LIKE THAT

You'll noticed I did these separately because the balsamic is really super strong, the red wine less strong than that but still strong, and the white wine less strong than the others, so the ratio of oil to vinegar is different in each one. Also, if you hadn't noticed from the lyrical caps, but SHAKING IS IMPORTANT. Not just when you make it, but EVERYTIME you eat it, because the oil and vinegar will separate. Also the oil always pours out so salad covered in oil is not the most appetizing. Ask me how I know. *wink*

Finally, this makes a nice vinaigrette, but if you want a thicker, creamier vinaigrette, put a couple of teaspoonfuls of brown mustard.

You can also add other spices of course, this is just what we use when we throw it together before a salad. It is Muy Delicioso!

Lemme know if you decide to try it!

Here you are.

What is your salad dressing of choice?
We make ours from scratch! IT IS AMAZING. I'll be posting a recipe after this blog. (There are variations, so it will be too long to stick in the meme.)

What is your favorite sit down restaurant?
Mexican: La Casona
Italian: Johnny Carinos or Olive Garden
American: Elmo's Grill (hometown restaurant)
I also like Chinese, but I can't remember the name of the restaurant!

What food could you eat every day for two weeks and not get sick of?
Salad and bread. (Which I basically do).

What are your pizza toppings of choice?
Pepperoni, black olives, and spinach.

TECHNOLOGY*

How many televisions are in your house?
Parent's room, my room, sister's room, living room, kitchen, so 5. (Yes kitchen, to watch the news while we fix supper, although it's original purpose was to watch baseball while we fix supper. It's only like 11 inches or something.)

What color cell phone do you have?
An Orange LG enV.

BIOLOGY*

Are you right-handed or left-handed?
Left handed

Have you ever had anything removed from your body?
Teeth. Oh, and gross, but overly excessive ear wax.

What is the last heavy item you lifted?
Either dog food, beer, or a case of water. (I work in a grocery store, remember?)

Have you ever been knocked unconscious?
I knocked myself unconscious when I was five. My mom always made me be extra careful when playing in the homemade cardtable playhouse after that. *grin*

BULLCRAPOLOGY*

If it were possible, would you want to know the day you were going to die?
Not a chance.

If you could change your name, what would you change it to?
I'm not sure. There are a few I like a bit better than my own. (Sophia, Shalom...I like other-cultural sounding names) because Jennifer is really common. (there are 3 of us at work. There used to be like 8 Joe's and they still outnumber us but they are the only ones.)

Would you drink an entire bottle of hot sauce for $1,000?
It depends on how hot it is, lol.

DUMBOLOGY*

How many pairs of flip flops do you own?
This is a really shameful answer for a Texan, but as of right now, 1.

Last time you had a run-in with the cops?
A couple of months ago I was on the phone with Mallory and got pulled over. We don't have legislation in TX about talking on phones yet, and I was going the speed limit so I was truly confused at what I was doing wrong. So I told Mal I'd have to call her back and you know what it was? My liscense plate light was out. So I got a warning.

Last person you talked to?
My stepdad and I had dinner together because my mom is on a retreat and my sister was a theater competition. (THEY ADVANCED, THAT IS A HUGE DEAL). Then a few minutes ago I put curlers in my sister's hair because tomorrow night is prom.

Last person you hugged?
My next door neighbor.

FAVORITOLOGY*

Season?
Fall

Holiday?
Christmas.

Day of the week?
Whatever day I am off!

Month?
Umm since my favorite holiday and my birthday are in that month I should probably say December, but I'm going with November, because there's a sense of holiday in the air but at the same time it's still all not stressful.

CURRENTOLOGY*

Missing someone?
In a sense, but really no.

Mood?
tired

What are you listening to?
The tv, an HGTV special: RV 2009. (I love RV's and hope to own one and maybe fulltime in one in the future if I don't become a houseboat liveaboard.

Watching?
The RV special, and this.

Worrying about?
waking up in the morning and making it through an 8 hour day during grocery store Saturday peak hours without dying.

RANDOMOLOGY*

First place you went this morning?
Bathroom

What's the last movie you saw?
HSM3 (although I was skipping through to the musical numbers).

Do you smile often?
Depends. On my mood. And my physical state.

Do you always answer your phone?
If I recognize the caller, and am not in class or work, then yes. If I don't, it's doubtful.

It's four in the morning and you get a text message, who is it?
Someone who is going to get in trouble if this isn't life or death.

If you could change your eye color what would it be?
Green.

Do you own a digital camera?
Yep, I got it for my birthday.

Have you ever had a pet fish?
Yes, a lot of them in my lifetime.

What's on your wish list for your birthday?
Haven't really decided yet but it's about 8 months from yesterday so I certainly have time!

Can you do push-ups?
About 2.

Can you do a chin up?
1, on a good day.

Does the future make you more nervous or excited?
both

Do you have any saved texts?
A few

Ever been in a car wreck?
Yes

Do you have an accent?
I can fake them, but no. I've convinced people I was Canadian but no one ever guesses Texas (born and raised here).

What is the last song to make you cry?
Can't think of one.

When was the last time you cried?
Few weeks ago maybe?

Plans tonight?
sleep.

Have you ever felt like you hit rock bottom?
yep. Feels good to be on the other side.

Name 3 things you bought yesterday:
1. Laptop
2. Pizza
3. M&Ms

Have you ever been given roses?
yes

Current hate right now?
school, work.

Met someone who changed your life
a few.

How did you bring in the new year?
it was uneventful. I fell asleep and wished I could have seen the Disney thing (yes I'm aware that's lame).

What song represents you?
I'll have to think about that.

Name three people who might complete this.
Probably no one.

Would you go back in time if you were given the chance?
Yep yep!

Will you be in a relationship 4 months from now?
It would be nice, but I don't know.

Does anyone love you?
Sure. It would be awful to not be loved. (But if you meant romantically, then no.)

Would you be a pirate?
No.

What songs do you sing in the shower?
Whatever's stuck in my head. Recently it's been JoBros and The Fray.

Ever had someone sing to you?
Yea and they were awful! LOL

Do you like to cuddle?
Yes I do!

Have you held hands with anyone today?
Nope

Who was the last person you took a picture of.
Not sure.

What kind of music did you listen to in elementary school?
Country

Are most of the friends in your life new or old?
Old enough that I don't think of them as new, but in the grand scheme of time I've know them against time I've been alive, I'd say new.

Do you like pulpy orange juice?
Oh gross no way! When I was little I used to think the pulp was vitamins. "Take the vitamins out, Mommy!"

What is something your friends make fun of you for?
Probably tons of stuff but I don't know what.

Have you ever ridden on an elephant?
Yep, at the circus. And I rode a camel at the San Antonio Zoo.

When is the last time you ate peanut butter and jelly?
A while ago, I'm not a fan of PB&J usually.

What song(s) do you want played at your funeral?
Something totally wierd. Like 1979 by the Smashing Pumpkins because I love that song. But a good funereal song I also love is Toccata and Fugue in D minor by by Johann Sebastian Bach. It's like 8 and a half minutes long though...

What were you doing 12 AM last night?
Playing with my laptop.

What was the first thing you thought of when you woke up?
IT'S TOO EARLY!

Also, over at bleumangroup there is a link to a Zac Efron interview. In the introduction (before the actual interview part) it talks about HSM from the perspective of a jaded adult, and it totally made me laugh.

If you’re over the age of 12 and still have all your faculties intact, or if you’re simply a hardened preteen, then the HSM films may present themselves as the worst kind of teenage wish-fulfillment fantasy. They’re simple, sort of saccharine, and seem to exist in a kind of vacuum-packed, irony-free, alterna-reality that makes Saved by the Bell
look almost dystopic.

Just the last part made me choke in laughter. Because as dystopic-free as Saved By The Bell is, HSM manages to do just that.

Further into the interview, Zef admits to skateboarding in his house (which appears to be why he bought a modern house with concrete floors.)

So I don't have much interesting going on these days.

My favorite college teacher (who is married to my other favorite, the theatre director), the one I've taken purposely like 4 times, is taking a group of kids to PARIS in May. she dropped the tour group they were supposed to go with because they were being all crappy, and decided to organize it herself, which means there's still time to get in on it. I wish the deadline was passed, because I REALLY want to go but there is no way I can get 1600 dollars in time for the trip. Unless anyone on here knows some trick I don't and would be willing to share it with me.

Ideas? Tricks? Tips? It would be the highlight of my life.

In other news, I'm wierd about food. I'm OBSESSIVE over milk. Seriously I drink like three glasses a day. I turn my nose up at sodas and rarely drink water or juice. And I just ate an entire can of black olives for supper. Cause I love em. Usually I eat them ON something: tacos, subway sandwiches, pizza, salad--I have only eaten a bunch by themselves like this once before, its not like a habit or anything, like the milk is. But its still wierd.

The new Life With Derek today was AWESOME. Like, super-de-duper awesome. (Anyone else remember the 80's use of superlatives?)

So that's it. Just trying to find a way to get to Paris.

Stage!HSM update, interview, stuff.
OMG y'all! In class Thursday I realized I have Gabriella's science teacher and KELSI in my class! HOW freaking cool is THAT?

I got a dress, shoes, earrings and a massive haircut today. I know I forgot to post pics of my last one and now I have a new one. It's VERY short. Like, a pixie.

I had a job interview Thursday at a daycare. I really enjoyed working childcare before, and I hope I can get out of this job and into one I enjoy.

I have the WHOLE WEEKEND off. (breathes sigh of relief).

I KNOW I had more, but it all seems to have slipped right out of my mind, since I have been up for a VERY long time, since I had to be at work at 6:30. 6:30. This morning. So I will probably be back tomorrow to post whatever I forgot. SINCE I have the WHOLE WEEKEND off. *grin*

Oh! And is it possible to have only heard a song once yesterday and now today think it is overplayed? I seriously just heard that new Britney Spears song "Circus" or whatever it's called yesterday night, and now I've heard it like thirty times! It's been like 27 hours! It's ridiculous! And this is just from casual radio listening!
High School Musical On STAGE. It was EPIC.
Yes, I saw it. YES it was AMAZING. An area high school was doing a production of it and I said...there's NO WAY I'm not going! I'm going to break it down a little because otherwise I might forget something.

The show itself was rearranged a little and had some completely new scenes not in the movie, dropped a secondary character and added a new character. Which is fine--most stage versions of shows are different than their movie counterparts, although the new character seemed a little extraneous, and I missed the other character. I liked the cell phone tag scene before "Stick to the Status Quo", and the "ball of noise" during Darbus' detention (instead of painting set pieces, et. al.) Unlike in the movie, Zeke was in detention too, and Coach Bolton came to get the boys, and when they notice him storm in, Troy covers his mouth, Chad covers his eyes, and Zeke covers his ears: see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil. LOL. During the day after Darbus collects the phones and before detention, Sharpay and Ryan call each other. Gabriella asks Taylor how they have phones, and Taylor rolls her eyes and says "they have spares in case their agent calls", which got a big laugh from the audience.

ALSO: For anyone who has the soundtrack: That song "I Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You" that isn't in the movie is in the play. Troy and Gabriella sing it on the rooftop garden. Oh, and Gabriella's solo "When There Was Me And You" is a duet with Troy and Gabriella--but she's in one place and he's in another.

Im going to further break this down by character.

Troy--one of the two best actors in the show. And a great voice. In the cast bios from the program he seems to have the most extensive history in musicals. My least favorite song in HSM1: "Getcha Head In The Game" is really fantastic, mostly because of the part where he solos "Why am I feeling so wrong? My heads in the game, but my heart's in the song......", and the dancing in that song on stage makes it a lot cooler to watch.

Gabriella--She did a very nice job. I'm not a big fan of her character to begin with anyway, but the actress did do a very good job.

Sharpay--the other of the two best actors in the show. I think she might have somehow managed to be more Sharpay than the Tizz. This from a high school junior! "What I've Been Looking For", and "Bop To The Top" were both amazing.

Ryan--singing and dancing wise, he was amazing. The actor was a good actor. The character--was different. Though he was still "coded" gay as they say, he went off with Martha during the last scene. That is not even my big complaint, this is TX, after all, I'm not even surprised. He was a villain in that he did what Sharpay wanted, but then he went around apologizing and tattling on her about all of it. He wanted very much to be accepted by the others, which doesn't surprise me given what we know about him in HSM2 and 3, but he's not the same Ryan Evans you all saw in HSM. And that's stuff written into the play, not the actors problem at all.

Chad--The casting director for the play must be a fan of Corbin's hair. Because this totally white kid playing Chad had Corbin's hair. Here, a picture for you all of the main six in the jump poster: http://www.brazosportisd.net/bwood/student_life/activities/Choir/index.htm (I don't know how long it will be there for, the show ended today). Anyway, the actor did a great job with Chad. The one thing that disappointed me was that for the entire show he was either in the basketball uniform, or the windpants/jacket the bball students wear on game day, and so there were no t-shirts with funny sayings. Also, (and this is Chyan related) whoever wrote the stage version I think secretly shipped them. Even though I'm pretty sure the stage version existed before HSM2, though I'm not sure. Anyway, during Darbus' detention, she made them do an acting exercise called "Ball of noise". Whoever catches the ball of noise has to act out a scene, and the rest of the students have to do sound effects. Chad did an acting scene, and Ryan did a baseball scene! It was hilarious! However, as you'll see below, Stage!Chad does not keep his crush on Taylor a secret at all!

Taylor--Also did a good job. In the scene where Chad and team and Taylor and brainiacs were plotting to get Troyella to drop out of the callbacks, she says some phrase (I forget what) in French, and Chad says "I love a woman who can speak German!" and Taylor looks at him confusedly and says "Danke Schoen!", which I think is my favorite Taylor line.

Kelsi--Did a great job. My favorite line from the play is one of hers, because its so funny. In the scene where Kelsi is telling Troyella she can practice anytime she says "and I can even come to your house and wake you up in the mornings, if you want, and I can bring my accordion. It's mobile!"

Zeke--Good acting. talked all about baking and Sharpay for the whole play. You would not have even known he was a basketball player if it weren't for A)his constant hanging out with Troy and Chad, B)his gameday uniform, and C)Stick to the Status Quo.

Martha--Good acting. perky. In a non-Stick to the Status Quo scene, while summoning Gabriella to some point offstage, goes "Hip Hop Hooray!", which was kind of wierd.

Ms. Darbus--Excellent actress. As good as Troy and Sharpay, actually. And hilarious too! Totally nailed the "Darbus thang". I especially loved when Darbus told Bolton that even though the jocks aren't as good at what they do as her kids are, they still get ten times the money from the school board. It was quite funny.

Coach Bolton--Good acting. Did not like the scene where Troy stays after practice after missing and he kept calling Troy "Bolton". He's your SON, DUDE. Okay, so yeah, they don't just leave it, Troy says something to that effect 'Its TROY". But still, the fact that they wrote it that way at all bothered me. The big fight scene between Darbus and Bolton was hilarious though.

Jason--MISSING. It was so sad, because I love his cluelessness! But there was no Jason. (There were other b-ballers, and I suppose one of them could have been him, but no one with significant clueless lines or anything.)

Jack Scott--(and yes, he always uses the last name). "The Voice of East High". He's the school radio dj. Has little interludes in between scenes. Not sure why they added this guy, but oh well.

Anyway, it was AWESOME to be up close watching these kids do this.

Unrelatedly, are there any old "I Dream of Jeannie" or "Bewitched" fans out there watching "Wizards of Waverly Place"? You know how Justin and Alex's teacher is Mr. Larrytate? As in Larry Tate, Darrin's ad exec boss on "Bewitched"? And then tonight on the new episode, TJ turns his girlfriend Jennie into a 40 year old art teacher who Alex has to change back, and her 40 year old art teacher name is "Miss Majorhealy". As in Major Healy, Major Nelson's goofy friend and coworker? I'm going to keep a look out for more of these, I think it's awesome Wizards is recognizing that the magical element is not something they came up with.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATYBETH!!!
You share a birthday with my cousin Hannah (who was about an hour from being a leap year baby) miss folkloric_feel! Sorry this entry is a couple of hours late (by my time zone) but hey, I'm just stretching your birthday out longer. I hope you feel better soon!

Today I was supposed to work an eight hour shift, and leave at six. As I was about to clock back in from my lunch, the bookkeeper asks me to stay until eight, meaning ten hours. They told me I could take another lunch later. So I did it. Mostly 'cause I needed the money because I didn't have a lot of hours this week. And then someone ELSE called out and the other bookkeeper was all "will you stay til nine?". I told her no, because I just couldn't handle that. But my back and feet are killing me, and it was so many hours of work that even now, five and a half hours after I got off, I CAN'T SLEEP. I CAN'T EVEN RELAX.

Last night I went to a dance at school. I've been going here for six years and this is the first student dance ever in that time. (I participated in the "Big Band Dance" when I was in my first year, but that was a choir/band-sponsored fund-raiser that none of the students could afford to attend if they weren't participating.) Anyway, it was free, which was cool. I made some new friends. AND I got a door prize, which totally kicked all other door prizes I've ever seen's butts. I thought I was getting a really nice duffel bag. (And I did). Not some cheapo bag, either, like a really nice sturdy black and red one with my school's name embroidered on the side of it with the number 40. (Did I mention its our school's 40th anniversary, which was the reason for the sixties themed dance?) SO I carried it out the door with me when I left and went home. But then I opened it, to see if there was any zippered compartments on the inside, to find like a crapload of OTHER things inside! Two t-shirts, a cup, a mug (also school name 40 yrs, and HUGE), a squishy toy alligator, a stuffed animal alligator (its our mascot), a bracelet with the school name, AND TWO flash drives. (I REALLY NEEDED a flash drive...now I have two...not sure their capacity, they weren't labelled and I haven't stuck them in the computer yet but STILL, WOW!) AND a gift certificate to the school book store in the amount of ten dollars. THIS IS LIKE FIVE DAYS WORTH OF CAPPUCCINO AND MILK Y'ALL!!! But I don't know if I can split up a gift cert. over five days so I'll probably use it to offset the cost of something they sell that I want (which is too much: non-school books, clothing, and a wheeled backpack would be useful, especially once I get the laptop.)

Have I mentioned I drink a LOT of cappuccino (gas station machine variety) and milk at school? And milk everywhere? No? I do. Lots of people give up coke for lent. It would be pointless for me to do so as I almost never drink it. They should, however, serve 12 and 16 ounce milks in more places, because I'm sorry, Sonic, Chick-fil-a, Subway et. al, 8 OUNCES IS NOT ENOUGH MILK FOR AN ENTIRE MEAL.

OOH. GRR. Speaking of Subway. On my first lunch break today I went there. Now, I only get 30 minutes, and it is one of the two closest restaurants to work (it ties in length with Sonic). I STOOD in line for EIGHTEEN minutes. Then I had like 12 to scarf my food and get back to work. Did I mention that foot pain is my number one problem on this job and standing on breaks makes me just want to scream? ARGH SUBWAY YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE, IT SUCKS. So until some magical day where I get a cushy-er, hour lunch break type job, I will be choosing Sonic for my off-campus lunching needs. (And yes, I do work in a grocery store, but its also Saturday, which...yeah, NO. I would have stood for just as long on a Saturday in-store.) Suck on THAT, Subway.

Sorry for the ranting, but there was a lot of squeeing in there so I hope it balanced out a little. And happy birthday again, to Katybeth and my cousin (who turned 21 <strike>today </strike> yesterday).

Edit: hahah I CAN'T BELIEVE I forgot to mention this until I was editing my tags and noticed this one. ALL my HSM fangirls should be totally jealous. I am going to see an ACTUAL High School performance of High School Musical <strike>tomorrow</strike> today. It's costing me 7 dollars more than my 5 dollar movie ticket to see HSM3, but STILL. HSM ON STAGE, Y'ALL.

Ooh, AND I meant to mention this: There is a guy I work with who looks like the character Julius in Remember The Titans, and is apparently my high school alma mater's Troy Bolton-esque skills basketball star. I just thought that was funny.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY STEPH!!!

It's so jannika's birthday today! Yay!

So I really want to write. Write write write write write. I've got Rasey and Dasey and Lizwin and Shemily and D-Rock and Tinker stories to be told and that's JUST the Life With Derek fandom! I don't know, man!

Last night. Erm. I still don't know what it was. Haha. When I got there (in my new army-green heels that make my legs look really nice), he was all "I already got us tickets", so then I thought, hmm, date? And then the fifteen minutes before the movie started he made me laugh a lot. But then the movie went on and we got kind of absorbed. So then it was over and we talked on the way out to our cars, and he gave me an as he put it "Awkward side hug" and we went our separate ways. And that was it. So I don't know. If it had been a date don't you think he would have wanted to have a longer conversation at least? Or a full frontal hug? LOL. Wait that sounds dirty. But you know what I mean?

Help? LOL.

Anyone got any fun stories? I'm in the mood to hear them!

I have what might possibly be a date?

Haha yeah. So the guy from my last post got to class tonight and we were making small talk and then I was like "so I want to go see Coraline, but I don't have anyone to go see it with". So he consults his calendar, adds my number to his cell and we are supposed to see it tomorrow after he's done doing something with his friends. But now I don't know if this is a date or if this is just a friend thing. He complimented my makeup when he came in because I did put in a little more effort on my appearance today, but I still don't know. I guess tomorrow when we are hanging out, not in the classroom environment and in a social setting it will be easier to say something/make a move/whatever I do.

But we are both somewhat quiet, shy individuals so I hope he figures it out at some point, haha.

I'm so lame.
