Would one of you Lizwin shippers on my friends list care to make a fanvid/ship (I dunno the actual term) video (like on youtube), with lots of season 3 and 4 Lizwin clips to Love Bug by the Jonas Brothers?
I just think it's a perfect song for them.
I can think of some really great scenes, so let me make it easy for you. Misadventures in Babysitting, Teddy's Back, It's Our Party, Freaked Out Friday, Truman's Last Chance, The Bet, and of course that line in Date With Derek when she thinks he asks her to the school dance. There's a good scene in one of the more recent episodes where they are arguing in the hallway because Ed tried to make Liz believe he got better grades on his report card, I can't remember the name of it. Also, any games closet scene.
I got an Easter dress today, and my mom decided to buy it for me. Now I need shoes, jewelry, and a hat. (I think it needs a big floppy hat, okay?) Shoes are at Cato, hopefully I can find one at the other Cato that fit a little better. The other stuff, I don't know, but I think I'm driving out to Pearland or Sugarland after work tomorrow to see what I can see.
Now if only I could stumble onto a nice 75% off swimwear sale at Dillards and I'd be set *grin*.
Ideas? Tricks? Tips? It would be the highlight of my life.
In other news, I'm wierd about food. I'm OBSESSIVE over milk. Seriously I drink like three glasses a day. I turn my nose up at sodas and rarely drink water or juice. And I just ate an entire can of black olives for supper. Cause I love em. Usually I eat them ON something: tacos, subway sandwiches, pizza, salad--I have only eaten a bunch by themselves like this once before, its not like a habit or anything, like the milk is. But its still wierd.
The new Life With Derek today was AWESOME. Like, super-de-duper awesome. (Anyone else remember the 80's use of superlatives?)
So that's it. Just trying to find a way to get to Paris.
It's so
jannika's birthday today! Yay!
So I really want to write. Write write write write write. I've got Rasey and Dasey and Lizwin and Shemily and D-Rock and Tinker stories to be told and that's JUST the Life With Derek fandom! I don't know, man!
Last night. Erm. I still don't know what it was. Haha. When I got there (in my new army-green heels that make my legs look really nice), he was all "I already got us tickets", so then I thought, hmm, date? And then the fifteen minutes before the movie started he made me laugh a lot. But then the movie went on and we got kind of absorbed. So then it was over and we talked on the way out to our cars, and he gave me an as he put it "Awkward side hug" and we went our separate ways. And that was it. So I don't know. If it had been a date don't you think he would have wanted to have a longer conversation at least? Or a full frontal hug? LOL. Wait that sounds dirty. But you know what I mean?
Help? LOL.
Anyone got any fun stories? I'm in the mood to hear them!
1. Dirty Little Secret--All American Rejects.
Marti caught Derek and Casey sneaking down the stairs from Edwin's room once. They'd been up there because no one expected them there, and Edwin was visiting Mom in Toronto for the weekend. When Marti demanded an explanation, their lie that they expected a nine year old to buy, well, she didn't buy it. She got the truth out of them. That's HER Dirty Little Secret.
2. All For One--High School Musical 2 Soundtrack
She was really to little to get into the High School Musical thing, but Edwin and Casey made a Big Deal out of it. They even had an HSM party the night before HSM3 premiered in which they and all their friends came dressed as their favorite character and watched the first two movies. And no, she's not kidding. She wishes she was. Watching the first two before the third didn't seem like a huge deal. But making an Event of it, and dressing like characters? She wasn't sure about that. The worst part? Casey and Edwin and all their dancer friends were dancing along. When Edwin later landed a role as Chad in the SJST production of HSM, she knew why. He already knew all the dances.
3. Goodbye Love--Rent Soundtrack
If Casey and Edwin made a big deal of HSM, Casey and Emily and Lizzie made a big deal out of Rent. They all knew all the words and listened to the soundtrack all the time and then when Emily started dating Sheldon she tried to test him to see if he could sit through Rent. She got the shock of her life when he started singing along and announcing that his overacheiving cousin Stephanos had been in a production in the Toronto theater district. He knew every. single. word. He was hoarse by this song.
4. Last Train to Clarksville--The Monkees.
Nora has every Monkees cd/record/cassette ever produced. This song holds special significance to her because back when she and Dennis were married, he worked out of town more than he worked in town. Sometimes he would send her train tickets to meet him in whatever city he was in and the first time he sent them with a copy of this song. Nora didn't tell a lot of stories about her life with Dennis out of respect for George, but Casey had asked, and Marti, quite frankly, was quite partial to this particular one.
5. The Receiving End of It All--Streetlight Manifesto.
Lizzie and Derek both listened to this band, especially when they were in bad moods. Which, being teenagers happened at least twice a day. Especially this song, which is very conducive to wallowing when in said bad moods. In fact, if Marti hadn't had Edwin and Casey's whiny girl-guitar music wallow music to compare, she probably would have thought all teenagers considered this their wallowing theme song. She later guilitly realized it was an acquired trait, when she started to listen to it as a moody teen. But it's different with her! Really! And anyway it was better than Edwin and Casey's wallow music by far!
6. When You're Good To Mama--Queen Latifah as Mama Morton in Chicago from the Soundtrack.
When SJST put on a variety show, Emily performed this song. It was mostly a ploy to make Sheldon go all hot and bothered, but it became blackmail when Dimmy and Marti got their hands on Derek's video camera and taped her practicing. They threatened to show the school her cheesy practice moves if she didn't take them to a movie and Chuck E. Cheese. That was some good pizza.
7. Big, Blonde, and Beautiful--Queen Latifah as Motormouth Maybelle in Hairspray from the Soundtrack.
George and Edwin were fond of playing this song when Nora and Lizzie got onto them for not eating healthy. It was a spiteful thing, but it kept bets from forming.
8. Gonna Buy Me A Dog--The Monkees.
This was the only song on any of Nora's Monkees albums George would openly admit to liking--probably because the jokes in the song were as wacky as the ones he tried to make. Nevertheless, all the kids liked this song much better than they liked any of George's jokes.
9. Light My Candle--Roger and Meme--Rent Soundtrack.
Casey did this song with a male partner for one of her dance competitions. If you thought Derek messed with Lucy, you should have seen how jealous he was of Peter. He refused to leave Peter and Casey alone to work on the very sensual dance--regardless of how obviously gay Peter was. He even brought his boyfriend with him once to make Derek finally leave him alone, but Derek was convinced it was just some friend he paid to pretend. And yet, Derek still swore he didn't want Casey. Yeah, and Marti was the queen of England and none of this was going to ever become material when she grew up to become a novelist. Mmhmm.
10. All I Care About Is Love--Richard Gere as Billy Flynn in Chicago from the Soundtrack.
When Emily was entering a Chicago song into the SJST variety show, so was Ralph. He was trying to make a joke--Amanda had been trying to get him to try out for the school musical, and he wanted to show her how bad he would be, so he tried to prove he couldn't get something half heartedly prepared into the variety. He lost his bet and made it in. He conspired with Edwin to steal Derek's video camera so that he couldn't hold it over Ralph's head forever.
11. I Wanna Be Free--The Monkees.
Nora campaigned to have this song played at her and George's wedding reception. He adamantly refused, like the lead singer of George and the Jungle would have to, if he wanted to keep any shred of self-respect. When they asked the kids to vote, she was outvoted by every Venturi and Lizzie.
12. Fallen For You--Drake Bell
Edwin was a huge Drake Bell fan. He wasn't even embarrassed about it. When he put this song on a mix for Michelle and she got mad about it, he dumped her because anyone who wasn't a Drake fan wasn't worth dating.
13. Tapestry--Carole King
This song used to scare Marti when she was little. It didn't scare her anymore, but she doesn't exactly voluntarily listen to it either. She could never explain why. Edwin and Lizzie were big fans of the whole album, but whenever they were playing it, when she knew the song was coming up, she always put in earplugs and covered her head with her pillow. Derek found her that way one time and wanted to know why she was doing that, but she was embarrassed to be afraid of a song, especially when she couldn't explain why, so she made up a story that didn't make any sense, but he bought it anyway, thankfully.
14. Can't Take It--All American Rejects.
When Lizzie went on an internship in BC one summer Edwin played this song on repeat for a week. If Derek hadn't already moved out of the house, she's sure he would have stolen the cd after the first hour or so, but since he and Casey were gone, and George and Nora couldn't hear it from three floors below, Marti was subjected to it. She'd thought about stealing it too, but in order to actually manage such a feat, she suspected she'd have to deliver some sort of "get over it" speech that Derek or Casey (or Lizzie, if it wasn't about her), might have been able to do, but she would never manage. She used her iPod any time she was home and stayed over at Dimmy's for the last three days of it. She finally figured out he'd stopped playing it when she came home for a change of clothes and realized it was quite. Fearing he might have driven himself to something really bad (just because Edwin had dealt with severe depression earlier that year) she went upstairs to find Lizzie home, and making out with him. After Nora had been doing some serious cleaning upstairs and starting to sing along when she'd never heard the song before, she'd emailed Lizzie about it. Lizzie's solution was to use her weekend off to fly home. Marti had never been so happy to see her. She could finally sleep in her own bed again, instead of on the Davis's couch!
15. Make Me Smile--Chicago (the band).
Edwin's Chicago-fanship generally stayed an Edwin thing. But one day he'd been playing this at some study session and Derek--Derek!--proclaimed it cool. This gave Edwin permission to put it on roadtrip playlist (which he was in charge of making, since he was the least likely to get frustrated with the computer). Soon it became a family singalong sort of song.
16. Nowadays--Renee Zellweger as Roxie Hart in Chicago from the soundtrack.
Emily had been debating this song first before she picked that other one. But seeing as Sheldon wasn't the creepy type, that whole "you can even marry Harry, but mess around with Ike" didn't seem like much of a turn-on. Dimmy and Marti still got some great footage from it.
17. So Far Away--Carole King.
When Lizzie went back to her internship she made a playlist for Edwin with this song about one in every three. She wanted to drill it in his head that she didn't want to be away from him so he would not go all depressed again. He did her one even better. After a couple of weeks of that song he decided to take that whole "it would be so fine to see your face at my door" part of it literally and flew up to see her. Fortunately for Marti, this was the weekend George and Nora were out of town on a second honeymoon. Derek would have been proud of that party!
18. Roxie--Renee Zellweger as Roxie Hart in Chicago from the soundtrack.
After Emily and Ralph's Chicago stunts in the SJST variety show, Edwin decided to do "Razzle Dazzle" when he got to high school. Naturally it had become something of a MacDonald-Venturi and friends tradition. Marti couldn't let them down, so she did Roxie when it was her turn. George left in the middle of the performance, because he couldn't manage to watch his baby girl perform such a flirty song.
19. 25 or 6 to 4--Chicago (the band)
This was the other Chicago song Edwin was allowed to put on the playlist. Derek figured out after paying attention to the lyrics that it was about drugs, which he found incredibly hilarious for a band like Chicago. So he started playing it for Ralph and Sam. It became an even bigger joke when George got in on it (trying to relive the glory days of rock and roll with D-Rock again) and decided to help them write their own crazy drug-like song. It really helped that Ralph had a dentist appointment with laughing gas that week. they got some pretty wacky stuff from it.
20. Cooties--Hairspray soundtrack. (This song was cut from the movie, but in the play.)
Maybe because Dimmy was her best friend, but Marti was the only girl who didn't think boys had cooties before junior high. This meant she had to do a lot of begging, pleading, and wheedling with her friends when she wanted her guy friends to come along, and she was sort of relieved when Dimmy had to go to his grandmas house the week of her princess party.
What do you think?
I got Edwin Venturi from
1. Vienna-The Fray.
This song is a withdrawn depressed Edwin when he loses Lizzie to another man in college and they do not see each other for years.
2. Getcha Head In The Game-HSM1
This is Edwin during Cheerleader Casey before he stands up to Derek
3. Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow--Carole King
Um, this connects to Edwin because it's off Carole King's Tapestry album, and when I first started writing LWD I wrote a Lizwin fic based off the Tapestry album and a sequel.
4. Forty Days--Streetlight Manifesto
Um okay...google the lyrics. Edwin is often not good enough for Derek, the singer is not good enough for God/heaven/whatever so...there's a correlation there.
5. Dance Inside--All American Rejects
College, Edwin's first time w/Lizzie, he's just poetic enough to identify with this song, which is about a couple's first time together.
6. This Christmastime--Corbin Bleu (from the Disney Channel Holiday CD)
This is a very romantic Christmas song. I imagine Edwin would slip it onto a romantic holiday cd for a special girl, but only if she was a big Corbin fan so it would seem like he did it for her, not because he liked Corbin too, lol.
7. Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?--Chicago
Some sort of rebellion against George's 80s music, but I think Edwin would really love Chicago.
8. Stick To The Status Quo--HSM1
All Edwin-centric plotlines seem to involve Ed either A)doing this and then realizing how stupid it is or B)not doing it and receiving a lot of flack for it.
9. Hakuna Matata--The Lion King
I'd like to think this would be a nice Lizwin theme song. Because they are always positive together.
10. It Takes Two--Hairspray, Zac Efron/Link Larkin
This is Edwin in Derek's School of Dating. Sort of. Kind of. With the whole arrogant sexist thing that doesn't really fit him.
11. I Feel The Earth Move--Carole King
Same as number 3.
12. What Time Is It?--HSM2
This list is all interconnected! This is the third HSM song, the second song about time, I dunno how many from a musical. Anyway. This is for when Edwin tries out for Chad when SJST does a production of HSM. Because that whole "Don't tell Derek I dance" thing is kind of "I don't dance" like but really...just look at Chad! And, um, Ed has that whole " I took dance lessons" thing. So yeah. I think with Casey's help he'll be trying out for musicals in no time. Especially after Derek's out of the house.
13. She Is--The Fray
I swear my playlist has more variety than this. Really. Edwin and Lizzie go to different colleges and it brings them together.
14. It's Only Time--Drake Bell
Edwin totally watches Drake and Josh every day after school with Marti and Lizzie. Casey and Derek join in sometimes. Casey pretends she doesn't want to make them change, and Derek pretends its only because Marti is watching, but the two of them are really totally jealous of how much hugging and kissing Drake and Josh get to do on their show when Casey and Derek get lame relationships with wierd people who don't make sense. Edwin and Lizzie wonder how come they are smart enough to have a games closet for that sort of thing but Derek and Casey aren't.
15. You Can't Stop The Beat--Hairspray
After Ed lands that role as Chad he tries out to be Link Larkin in Hairspray, and well, gets it! (I'm not the only one who believes Edwin in a musical, right?)
16. Love Heals--Rent Soundtrack bonus song (not from the movie or play)
This is sort of the whole Lizwin relationship, they make each other better.
17. I'll Be Home For Christmas--Drew Seeley (same cd as Corbin)
Sent to LIzzie by email during whats going on in song 13.
18. What You Own--Rent
I guess it was only a matter of time before he landed a role here, too, huh? Edwin does jaded well, though.
19. Smackwater Jack--Carole King
Same connection as 3 and 11.
20. Must Have Done Something Right--Relient K
Yay! I am so glad this one made it (and it just barely did!). There is an AMAZING Lizwin video to this song on youtube. I saw it just a few days into my Lizwin shipping and if I hadn't been shipping them before I would have after seeing this video. Go watch it!
I think I'm going to have to do one of these a day because I got SEVEN people within minutes of posting this entry! There better be some Beatles and Drake music on the shuffle when I get to Drake Parker, is all I'm saying.
Did anyone think when Ralph was confused at the beginning, and was talking about "his cousins in Toronto" that maybe he meant Spinner? *grin*
I know. I'm lame.
Hey F-listers! This post is going to be random and all over the place. Because thats how I feel right now.
All the Merry Christmas Drake and Josh promos are making me SO EXCITED. I am having the best birthday week ever! A new LWD for my birthday and MCD&J three days later. This is kind of ironic because two years ago I got an LWD for my birthday during S2, and Drake's sophomore album dropped three days later.
Jerry Trainor is HOT. I used to only ever crush on younger guys. Like it was impossible to find older guys hot. But now I'm just like GUH Jerry Trainor. and I also have a crush on my 35 year old Biology professor. I can't decide how much that bothers me, because you know its like all kinds of improper, but I'm definitely signing up for the Bio II he teaches next semester. LOL. Hes hot and funny, and as all you Jerry fans know, thats a winning combo!
I finally got curious enough of Dan Schneider's wife's website, www.hungry-girl.com, and headed over there, and I'm finding it quite informational and fun. It's a diet website, but it tells you how to make things you like for less calories instead of ditching them for yucky 'diet' foods altogether. Among other things. AND not only THAT, but she has a video up (with more to come, all eight made so far feature JERRY TRAINOR), in which she and Jerry try out yogurts on the iCarly kitchen set. (Although only an iCarly fan would recognize it as such).
Since its after midnight, tomorrow is my birthday! YAY!
I have a job interview!
So, like
IT WAS AWESOME.
( Spoilery )Sorry I didn't have more to say, but I'm still feeling fluey and my stepdad brought home Schlotzky's that I would like to get home and eat.
01. Comment on this post and ask for a letter.
02. I will give you one.
03. Think of 5 fictional characters whose names begin with that letter. Post their names and your comments on these characters in your LJ.
( Today Sesame Street is brought to you by the letter E )
I'll probably do that music meme over the weekend.
Oh! This is surprisingly the first time I have used this Boy Meets World tag.
Galveston Island and Bolivar Peninsula? WOW. They're flooded. And Surfside Beach ( beach being part of the cities' name which is about 25 minutes from my house) is about to be wiped off the map completely!
I've been watching live, up to the minute news coverage all day long. Destruction. Flooding. We're expecting to get heavy rains, heavy winds, probably flooding here, and I'm guessing we'll lose power soon because the lights just flickered. Already a casualty. A man was cutting down a tree he thought might break roofs or windows on his house, so he figured he would get it cut down so it would no longer be a threat. And his son got trapped under it when it fell, and he died.
The area where my stepdad works is flooded.
Right now the news is on a weatherman in another town about 25 minutes from my house, where my college is. No flooding there yet, but the wind is blowing so hard he's about to blow away! (Remember the D&J episode "The Storm"? With Walter? anyway.)
Our house has lost electricity because we called and the answering machine did not pick up.
But here where I am we've had some tropical storm force wind and no rain yet.
The storm itself is only a category 2, almost 3, but the storm surges (strong winds bringing water from the gulf flooding into the land, which is why Galveston, etc is flooded) are category 4 strength. They are saying this storm is comparable to Carla, Alicia, and the Galveston storm of 1900 which killed thousands.
The city of Galveston was under mandatory evacuation, but 45% of the city, some 22,000 have not left! They're out power and are not supposed to be there! They are being told to write their social security numbers on their arms because no one expects them to make it out alive. About 20 people on Bolivar Peninsula (right next to Galveston) had swam/climbed to the top of a church roof looking to be rescued, who knows how many will have already drowned? The Coast Guard was rescuing people off the peninsula earlier today, but now they won't start rescuing again until the storm has passed because they aren't allowed to put themselves at risk and the winds are too hard for their helicopters.
Really, I can't take my eyes off the news. Its a morbid fascination. I wish you all could experience the tv coverage. It's almost fun except the 'this is here!" aspect.
The new Life With Derek? WIN. WIN. WIN.
...like the crack!fic.
.........especially the crack!fic Drake and Josh and Jerry thing.
...like Meagan, who is the AWESOME, being made co-mod of rivalry_islove.
...like elvenfrolover05 posting a Michael Seater interview!!!
...like Megan reappearing after an absence nearly like mine!
Oh, and you know that commercial for Kmart or something where the twelvish year old blonde kid is wearing his new duds and he's practicing in the mirror like "hello Katie!", "Kay-tee!" obviously practicing pickup techniques for some girl named Katie, and then at the end he's like "Megan!"
...I have to wonder if his next crush will be named Stephanie, cause that's the names of her roommates.
...fandom and my fandom friends have INVADED my BRAIN, yall!
Off to read Chapter Nine of Closet Monsters.
Well, there's a scene where he's trying to study and he can't and he's drumming on the desk while he's too distracted.
And it was so Ralph, a la the montage in Grade A Cheater when they are all taking the test.
And then at the end, when Jimmy shoves him and tells him "Objects in motion stay in motion".
It was like when Casey and Marti made up the "first law of motion...." song for Derek.
I love when Life With Derek and Degrassi have things like that. It's kind of like the Polynomial thing I mentioned a while ago.
I'm going to my cousin's house tomorrow, I might be back Friday, and it might be Saturday, so if you don't hear from me much or at all, I'll be back soon!
I'm looking for an upscale dance club where I can really dress up that allows 18 year olds. Who knew that was so hard? Even with Citysearch!
This LWD stuff really really has me excited!
You know that promo where Derek compares he and casey to orange juice and toothpaste? (And then "help me out here I'm running out of opposites")? I thought that was for Open Mic Plight because they keep running it and then saying "Sunday 8:30/7:30 central". But its still to come/look forward to, because its not in Open Mic Plight!
And then tonight during LWD (the 10:30/9:30 time slot) they advertised ANOTHER new promo, where its how Derek interacts with everybody, I caught the part where he had this conversation with Lizzie and she was like "but" and he was like "no!" and then being good big-brother Derek to Marti and he picks her up (much the way he picks Casey up in the new theme sequence). So TWO NEW SCENE SPECIFIC PROMOS! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
By the way, if you are wondering how I saw Open Mic Plight, its up on Disney XD. And Steph has already recapped it.
On another note, have you noticed childrens programming has this whole "we've established this person as a "good" character, and this other person as a "bad" character, but really, they both do the same sorts of things and are kind of bitchy" kind of thing going on? Its really irritating. The whole Sally / Derek fights in the first two eps of season 4 are one example. The other day Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen was on Disney and it has that same thing, Lindsay Lohan's character is really quite the bitch, and kind of worse then Megan Fox in a way, 'cause at least Megan's character admits she's a bitch, and then she's the "good girl", she "wins" (BTW, I love Ashley Leggat in this movie, dunno why.) It's so irritating. And Mean Girls too, Lindsay's character becomes just like the Plastics, and then there's some not really redeeming but sort of scene near the end and its all good that they used to act like that. Ya know? ARGH.
I mean some of that is aimed at teens but still, its lessons are just as bad as the lesson in HSM2.
I wish I could give you a more climactic moment in the dream to end with, but dreams don't always work that way do they? They always end at some dull moment, or they end before the climactic scene ends so you end up trying to get it back and find out what happens only for it to not work. Nevertheless, that was the dream I had last night, and I thought you guys might want to hear it.
Also, this guy, who is the son of my high school physics teacher, who I think is cute but don't really know, was the sub in my sister's physics class today. She told him I thought he was cute. I was annoyed that she would do that, but who knows. He told her he thought I was cute (though I'm not sure he knows me, so he might have the wrong girl) so I guess it doesn't have to be that bad. I'm still mad at her for it.
And finally, this:
Name a character that you know I write or have written, and I'll tell you: a. What initially prompted me to like the character enough to write about him/her. b. One of his/her best traits. c. One of his/her worst traits. d. How easy/difficult I find it to write the character. e. The story/thread/chapter/post/paragraph/tag/p
Quite a few of you feel Derek and Casey are not mature enough to handle a relationship with each other right now. You all seem to think that a stepsibling relationship between these two would be better suited for the two of them as they mature, and more appropriate when they are late senior year or even in college.
The same people turn around and just hate on Derek and Casey's current relationships. Now, I don't like Max either, but that's just because he's a jerk. So leaving him out of the equation, none of you like Sam as Casey's boyfriend. None of you like the fact that Noel likes her, and straight up laugh at Ralph's "pathetic" shoe line (which I thought was adorably naive. Rasey fic in the works, actually.) You also dislike Kendra and gripe about Sally.
Is it really fair to expect them to just stay single until they are ready for each other? Don't you think they should have previous relationships to help them get ready for such a thing? Dating in high school is typically a learning experience, and though not everyone has it, it's beneficial to those that do. Are you one of those people who think that you should marry the first person you date? That doesn't sound like sound advice to me.
So...tell me how you feel about that. I really want to know.
Also, on another topic: Lame things I notice: In the Against All Odds episode of Degrassi when Jimmy invites Spinner and Marco over to study for a math test (and then they watch porn and Spinner is afraid Marco wants him...those poor sweet naive Spinner days) Spinner is lamenting the horrors of polynomials.
Four years later in Life With Derek episode Grade A Cheater, Ralph is completely confused by the upcoming math test, which Casey later explains covers, you guessed it, polynomials. Considering Ralph and Spinner are essentially the same character (especially at that point, since Spin didn't have a lot of issues then) it's been FOUR YEARS and he STILL doesn't understand polynomials? NO WONDER HE'S SO WORKED UP ABOUT IT!
Okay, yes that is silly. But it made me laugh when I noticed it.
